1. We worked on book selections. I need to know what titles you will be reading. Please send me an email that tells me if I need to purchase a book for you.

2. Your "Freak" annotation are due on Thursday. Make sure you write down comments that others make in class.

3. Your "sibling" or "sibling-like" piece is due on Thursday as well. It should be a rough draft. We'll share/workshop in class.

1. Find books (one fiction and one non-fiction) that pertain to your selected topic and send me Amazon links to them.
2. Revise your blog posts on being a target, bystander, or aggressor.
3. Read/Annotatate "Freaks"

September 22

Today we talked about physical, verbal, and relational aggression. We listened to a portion of a This American Life episode called "The Allure of a Mean Friend."

Your homework is to write a piece about yourself and a time when you were a target, a bystander, or an aggressor. The piece should be creative (use sensory details). It can be a poem, a short story, or something really "out of the box." You can even make a video instead. It's up to you.

Good luck! The first draft is due on Monday the 26th.

We shared some of the things we listed with the group.

We also listed 1-6 things people would noticed if they looked at us.

We talked about some things that might happen in a school that would make it so that students did not feel safe, welcome, or respected based on their (or their loved ones'):

1. Today we wrote about 8 things that are important in terms of understanding/knowing you (the things that make you YOU).
2. We looked at the post secret "postcards" in the back of the room and commented on design and personal connections.
Post Secret is a great website to look at.
If it is blocked, then you can do a google image search.
3. We went over classroom policies AND we talked about discussions, privacy, and confidentiality.

Homework:
Create two post secrets of your own.
One should be a sharable secret that you can own (and put your name on the back).
One should be something that you do not need to put your name on.
